International divorces (for expatriates)

A divorce may have international aspects, for instance if the spouses do not possess the same nationality or if the marriage was contracted abroad, after which the spouses settled either in the country where they were married or in another country. A married couple may also become involved in divorce proceedings at a time when they are living temporarily in the Netherlands after the husband or wife has been seconded to the Netherlands by his or her employer. An international divorce is often clouded in uncertainty, especially if the spouses are not familiar with the legal system of the country where they are temporarily living.

What can we do for you?

Our lawyers understand these situations and can give you sound advice and clear, comprehensive information if you are involved in an international divorce.

Free, online legal consultation for expatriates

Do you have a legal problem that you would like to discuss with a family lawyer? Why not sign up for our free, online legal consultation which we organise every last Tuesday of the month from 4-5 pm.

You can put your questions to a family lawyer during the consultation. This takes the form of a 15-minute online meeting. If you decide at the end of this meeting that you need more time in which to discuss the matter, you can of course plan a second meeting (subject to the usual fee).
