At secondary school, I chose a science and technology track with the aim of keeping all study options open. I ultimately decided to study law, completing a double bachelor’s degree in Dutch law and notarial law, followed by a master’s degree in constitutional and administrative law, with additional study in European law. During my studies, I worked at the court on cases involving guardianship, protective administration and mentorship. So my background is broad by nature.

The relationship between individuals and public authorities is inherently unequal. Even so, public authorities are by no means always inflexible counterparts. Constructive dialogue can often lead to a solution that enables both parties to move forward. I am keen to make effective use of that scope for resolution.

In addition to administrative law, I advise and represent clients in real estate matters. This includes issues such as the liability of contractors and sellers, tenancy law, non-conformity of residential property and neighbour law, including boundary disputes. My background in notarial law is particularly valuable in this area. The variety between these two areas of law suits me well and keeps my work both focused and engaging.

My approach is strategic and pragmatic. I prefer to achieve a workable solution through consultation rather than become involved in protracted proceedings. If court proceedings are nevertheless necessary, I pursue the matter with determination to achieve the best possible outcome.

What drives me goes beyond the individual case. I am socially engaged and see how broader issues can have a direct impact on people’s lives. For example, I volunteered with the Dutch Council for Refugees. There, I experienced at first hand how complex and almost impenetrable immigration law can be.

Outside work, I play hockey, go running, and enjoy making and upcycling my own clothes. It is both enjoyable and an environmentally conscious choice. During elections, I volunteer at a polling station. There too, I like to make sure the process runs smoothly.
