Optimism and the ability to put things into perspective play a big part in my life. My eldest son, who has a learning disability, no longer lives at home. What initially felt like a setback has actually brought something truly positive. He’s been living and working happily in a care facility for several years now.
This experience taught me that even in the most complex situations, there’s room for a positive turn. That mindset is something I bring to my work every day: breaking complex legal issues down to their essence and finding solutions that genuinely work.
With nearly 25 years of experience, I specialise in corporate law, and for the past twelve years I’ve had a strong focus on franchise law. This field touches on virtually every form of business partnership — from distribution agreements to franchise deals in retail, fast food, and services. These contracts are often lengthy and complex, making it hard for entrepreneurs to spot the hidden risks. That’s where I come in.
I dissect agreements with precision and clearly lay out the key points and potential pitfalls. I help entrepreneurs not only to secure watertight contracts, but also to navigate situations where conflicts arise due to unforeseen circumstances. In those moments, experience, creativity, and a healthy dose of humour and perspective are absolutely vital.
While I never shy away from legal proceedings, I firmly believe that a practical resolution often delivers more than years of litigation. If I see an opportunity to resolve a dispute in a strategic and efficient way, that’s where I focus my efforts.
In my downtime, I unwind either on the tennis court or out on the water. Water always finds the path of least resistance — but her power is immense. Just like in the legal world, it’s all about balance: sometimes you have to go with the flow, other times it’s all about standing your ground.
