I’m from Twente, where people – and I realise that I am generalising here – tend to be down to earth and to the point. In that respect I am a real ‘Twentenaar’. I enjoy conducting business analysis, preferably of complex legal problems. I’m in my element when I can untangle a knotty problem by coming up with a creative solution − which does not necessarily have to be a legal solution.
As a lawyer, I specialise in complex cases involving directors, regulators and shareholders, and assist companies during acquisitions and restructurings. Organising and coordinating cases like this gives me energy and satisfaction. As a business mediator, I also mediate conflicts within and between companies.
I take a pragmatic approach, listening carefully to my client and then translating their wishes into a concrete, crystal-clear plan of action. I find the strategic aspects of my work particularly fascinating and I love finding creative possibilities to reach the right result for the client and the company. The more complicated the matter, the more enthusiastic I become.
As an insolvency practitioner (curator) I am often appointed, either alone or with another specialist, to deal with the affairs of large companies. Courts call on me because they know I will help to solve major cases quickly and efficiently. To do this, I not only rely on my knowledge of the case, but also trust my intuition. Over my many years of experience, that has proven to be an extremely valuable guide.
My practice is very busy and gives me positive energy. To relax, I like to cook and find the right wine to pair with a meal. The most fantastic ideas bubble up! It’s all about combining the useful with the pleasurable.
