I care about people’s feelings and I therefore want to make a difference for others, so in addition to legislation and case law, I have also studied psychology and communication. I use this combination to help empower my clients.

I specialise in solving complex legal problems involving underlying interests, and often hidden feelings. Examples include conflicts between employers, employees, directors, and other business or relationship partners. A lawyer with knowledge of the law and human emotions is an indispensable adviser in such cases.

I support entrepreneurs in word and deed as a lawyer, business mediator, divorce mediator, business coach, moderator or adviser. My strength lies in connecting rationality and emotion. I investigate the threats and opportunities of the problem, paying particular attention to what is going on between the parties.

I am very good at listening (also to what is not said) and summing up, and I persist in asking questions until I can pinpoint the problem; the issue underlying the case. Everything I do is based on my knowledge of legislation and case law. My added value lies in knowing exactly what to do and when; in deciding the correct strategy and smart negotiation and in reacting quickly and switching track effortlessly.

I like to work constructively with the opposing party if at all possible, but if it is necessary to adopt another tactic, I can switch just as easily to a fierce attack or a measured defence – whatever is necessary to achieve an optimal result for my client.

I don’t just write procedural documents. I also enjoy writing lyrics and columns for my own website, www.bobheeren.nl, and the website of the Rijnsburgse Boys. I love French and Dutch chansons and country music and occasionally perform as a singer.
