In the often emotionally charged world of family matters - such as divorces and inheritance disputes - I combine empathy with strategic insight. I can relate to the emotions of those involved, but I don’t allow myself to get swept up in them.
You could call me a down-to-earth Drenthe native, as that’s where I grew up. I believe it was mainly my upbringing in an entrepreneurial family - where taking initiative and finding solutions were key - that shaped who I am today, both as a person and as a lawyer. In any case, I have a strong passion for family and inheritance law, and I’m constantly developing my knowledge in these areas.
I’m a member of several specialist associations, including vFAS (Association of Family and Inheritance Lawyers and Divorce Mediators), MfN (Mediators Federation of the Netherlands), and VvCP (Association of Collaborative Professionals). The latter supports a unique approach to divorce, where each party is supported by a solicitor, coach, and financial expert to reach a constructive resolution.
My approach? Actively thinking along with the client, identifying the true interests behind their concerns, and ensuring clear communication. I create space for the emotions that may arise and translate them into practical, sustainable solutions that help people move forward in the long term. And when negotiation doesn’t offer a way out, I take a firm stance in court to represent my clients.
I also have a love for numbers - a valuable trait in legal matters where finances play a key role.
Outside of work, I unwind with CrossFit and flamenco dancing, which allow me to channel my physical and creative energy. Concerts are the perfect way for me to recharge mentally. Just like in my work, it’s the tone that sets the music.
